Our Royal Warrant

At Campbell’s of Beauly, our connection to the Royal Family runs deeper than parchment. It’s woven into our cloth, our fittings and the stories passed down through generations of tailors and clients alike.

These honours are deeply meaningful to us. Not as marketing, but as a reflection of trust, craftsmanship and continuity. We don’t seek to trade on heritage alone, but to live up to it. The Royal Warrants are part of that story: earned through discretion, dedication and the quiet confidence of doing things well.

Two men in vintage golf attire stand outdoors, facing each other. Both are smoking cigars; one holds a golf club. A crowd and a stone building are visible in the background.

In 1924, the then Prince of Wales visited our shop and ordered a plus-four suit in a Sutherland homespun check, a cloth he selected himself. He wore it while golfing at Nairn, having been a guest at Beaufort Castle with Lord Lovat. The Prince had, by that time, made the baggy plus-four style his own. That suit, cut and crafted here in Beauly, marked the beginning of a quiet, enduring relationship.

Our first official Royal Warrant was granted in the 1960s by HRH The Duke of Windsor, formerly that very Prince. In 1975, HM The Queen Mother honoured Campbell’s with her own Warrant, which she would continue to uphold until 2002. Her affection for the shop became part of our everyday rhythm, woven into the fabric of life in Beauly.

After John and Nicola Sugden took ownership of the business in 2015, our legacy continued. In 2017, we were proud to receive a Royal Warrant from HM The Queen, an honour that affirmed the team’s dedication to traditional tailoring under new stewardship.

In 2019, HRH The Prince of Wales visited Beauly to open our new tailoring workshop, an event that underscored his ongoing commitment to heritage makers. That support became official in 2022, when he granted us a Royal Warrant in his capacity as Prince of Wales.

And in 2025, following his accession to the throne, His Majesty King Charles III reaffirmed that relationship by granting Campbell’s a further Royal Warrant, each honour earned not by ceremony, but by trust, discretion and a quiet pride in doing things well.
